5 Quick Tips to Organize Your Bathroom Cabinets
When it comes to storage, it feels like there is never enough – the more storage we create, the more we seem to fill. When it comes to bathrooms in particular, there isn’t always room to add additional storage, so it’s better to develop a system of organization that gets you the best mileage out of what you do have available. If your bathroom has been in need of a new solution for more storage space, try these five quick tips to organize your bathroom cabinets and improve your space.
Use the inside of the cabinet doors for storage
You can affix a number of storage containers or magnetic strips to the inside door of your cabinets to store small items. The most important thing to do is be careful that they don’t line up with shelves inside the cabinet, which will prevent the door from closing. As long as that is accounted for, you can store small tools, bottles, toothbrushes, or any other number of items that would otherwise be stored haphazardly or take up precious shelf space.
Use smaller containers
Instead of piling everything onto your shelves and dealing with constant chaos, use smaller bins to further organize your items. You can keep all your hair products in one basket, shaving items in another, teeth cleansing and whitening products in another, and so forth. In this way, you can pull out the entire bin, sort through it conveniently on the counter, and put the whole bin back when you’re done. This will prevent things from getting knocked all around, as well as make it easier for you to get in, get what you need, and get out.
Place a Lazy Susan in deep cabinets
If you happen to have deep cabinets that require reaching far enough back that you have no idea what you’re grabbing anymore, a Lazy Susan is a great addition. These can make those deep recesses much easier to reach since you can spin the whole thing and bring the items from the back all the way up front and center, eliminating having to play ‘go fish’ every time you need something that you’re not quite sure where it’s located.
Add shelf inserts
Shelves can often be too tall, causing items to pile all over the surface while there are still inches of unutilized space above them. By adding shelf inserts, you can double up on your shelf space and make sure every inch of vertical space is used, as well as making it easier to get to certain items.
Turn your functional items into decor to save space
Instead of cluttering your cabinets with functional items, and spending money on decorations, try using that clutter to decorate with instead. For example, a vertical wine rack can be hung to store rolled up towels – which can take up a lot of space when folded inside cabinets. Or, hang cute knobs or other small decorative items from the walls that you can hang your jewelry from, thus creating a cute wall display and eliminating the storage space you’d need for them. With a little creativity, you can often kill two birds with one stone.
